FIELD: fire-fighting technique and ecology, particularly, methods of prevention of explosions and ecological protection of storage tanks with oil products. SUBSTANCE: method includes supply to storage tank free space of gas inert mixture with oxygen content not exceeding minimal explosive-hazardous concentration, filling of storage tank with oil products by their pouring from transportation vessel, displacement of vapor-gas mixture from storage tank free space to transportation vessel. Gas intake device is located at distance from surface of oil products not exceeding 0.25 height of storage tank free space. Gas inert mixture formed from atmospheric air by its passing under pressure through plant retaining the oxygen, and supplied by jets uniformly distributed over circumference and parallel to storage tank roof surface.
