FIELD: printing machines, in particular, hold-down cylinder (1) of sheet rotary press and method for its manufacture. SUBSTANCE: cylinder (1) has body (8) installed in the casing of the printing machine for rotation, it is covered with film (34) having a great number of holes (36). Recesses (20) are made on the circumferential surface (18), members (22), having through ducts (24) are placed in the recesses. Film (34) at least in the section located above the through ducts (24) has a great number of small holes (36), through which, depending on the mode of operation and use of cylinder (1), passes injected or sucked-in air from the air-distributing chamber (26). At manufacture of cylinder (1) first body (8) is obtained, then recesses (20) are made on it, in which members (22) are installed, and then the whole surface (18) is subjected to finishing and coated with the film.
