FIELD: : nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of uranium oxides by reaction of uranium hexafluoride having any 235U isotope level with oxygen-hydrogen flame combustion products. Hydrogen, oxygen-containing gas, and uranium hexafluoride are introduced into combustion chamber, wherein reaction is carried out at stoichiometric hydrogen-to-oxygen ratio or with excess of oxygen in torch. Oxygen-containing gas is fed into combustion chamber around central passage and hydrogen around oxygen-containing gas flow. Uranium hexafluoride is fed into combustion chamber at velocity superior to that of oxygen-containing gas and hydrogen flows. EFFECT: ensured production of uranium dioxide powder with desired physicochemical characteristics, increased stability and flexibility in equipment operation, and increased productivity of installation. 15 cl, 1 dwg
