FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, specifically to production of uranium dioxide powder by pyrohydrolysis. The reaction chamber for producing uranium dioxide powder from uranium hexafluoride is in form of a container, having a filtration zone, a first reaction zone for converting hexafluoride to uranyl fluoride and a second reaction zone with a gas-distributing plate for creating a fluidised layer for reducing uranyl fluoride to uranium dioxide, wherein the container has an inner distance between two opposite flat walls of not more than 104 mm for U235 enrichment of up to 5%. The reaction chamber can also be in form of a container which is divided by a vertical partition wall into cavities, each having a filtration zone, a first reaction zone and a second reaction zone.
EFFECT: invention provides nuclear safety of the reaction chamber.
