FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly manufacture of forgings with branches by hot die forging. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of upsetting initial blank; then shaping semifinished product; at first in open die set shaping several branches and metering volume of semifinished product while displacing excess metal to fin; cutting off fin and in closed die set finally shaping semifinished product with branches; then performing final forging in open die set while displacing metal to fin by inclination angle 5 - 85 degrees relative to vertical axis of forging. At final forging it is possible to perform shaping of head portion of forging and, if necessary sizing branches. EFFECT: lowered metal consumption at making forgings with branches from usual-accuracy blanks. 6 cl, 2 dwg, 1 ex
