FIELD: plastic metal working; possibly manufacture of die forgings. SUBSTANCE: method of manufacture of die forgings contains steps of upsetting initial billet, final forging and trimming flash from forgings. Upon upsetting of initial billet semifinished product is formed with dimensions in plan being not more than dimensions in plan of finished forging. Volume of semifinished product is equal to volume of finished forging. Excess metal is extruded to flash at a height relative to bottom end of semifinished product being equal to 0.2-0.9 of height of semifinished product. Trimming of flash is carried out prior to final forging. Final forging is performed in open die. Semifinished product is formed with dimensions in plan within the range of 0.9-1.0 of corresponding dimensions in plan of finished forging. EFFECT: ensured saving of metal and increased production output. 4 dwg
