GEAR TO COLLECT OIL PRODUCTS Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2213180 C2

FIELD: protection of environment. SUBSTANCE: gear includes turbulence chamber with inlet and outlet for collected oil, drive for its rotation, swirler, floats, power frame, tank for accumulation of collected oil, pipe-line and pump. Turbulence chamber has cover in the form of body of revolution fixed on engine shaft along axis, bottom formed to shape and matched to cylindrical skirt of cover. Bottom of turbulence chamber manufactured in the form of truncated, profiled funnel with downward vertex is anchored in cover on radially placed plates as on pylons arranged over skirt edges. Base of funnel and skirt of cover form annular clearance uniform over perimeter of cover which is outlet from turbulence chamber and hole in vertex of funnel is inlet to turbulence chamber. Funnel carries additional swirler coming in the form of profiled flat plates radially anchored outside of funnel, near its vertex. All plates of swirler are located in cap which shear plane is parallel to plane of outlet hole and plane of surface of spilt oil. Internal surfaces of cover and funnel of turbulence chamber are formed to shape and internal surface of profiled funnel is hyperboloid of revolution and carries coat. Power frame is mounted on mobile chassis with engine. Gear to collect oil products is fitted with system automatically maintaining required value of clearance between oil surface and plane of vertex of truncated, profiled funnel. Rotation of shaft of swirler drive forms air annular vortex flow with decreased atmospheric pressure along axis of turbulence chamber. Due to fall of pressure water surface bulges in zone of inlet hole of turbulence chamber and sucks oil spilt on surface into space of turbulence chamber. Hitting internal surface of funnel oil rises to base of funnel thanks to action of centrifugal and cohesive forces and is drawn off into tank for accumulation of oil through annular clearance. Formation of eddy flows in air atmosphere both in turbulence chamber proper and above surface of oil in zone of inlet hole to turbulence chamber makes it feasible to reduce energetics of gear and to raise quality of oil separation from water. Apart from this gear can be utilized to collect spilt oil from solid surface. EFFECT: reduced energetics of gear and raised quality of oil separation from water. 3 cl, 1 dwg
