METHOD OF REPAIR OF LOCAL DEFECTS IN PIPE LINES Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2213289 C2

FIELD: construction engineering; repair of pipe lines carrying steam, steam condensate or hot water. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes covering damaged section with two metal cylindrical half-shells followed by clamping them together and filling the gap between half- shells and pipe with fast-hardening sealant. Two half-couplings are used as half-shells; each half-coupling has circular grooves at the ends, circular central bore and two pipe unions; one pipe union is connected with central bore and other pipe union is connected with circular groove at the end. Area of local damage of pipe line is matched with one of central pipe unions, half-coupling is heated to temperature of pipe line, circular grooves are filled with thermosetting sealant through end pipe unions and are held during period of time required for hardening of sealant. Rated amount of thermosetting sealant fed through central pipe union has pressure higher than pressure of product in pipe line. EFFECT: facilitated procedure of repair. 4 dwg
