FIELD: geophysics, remote sounding of the Earth, prediction of earthquakes. SUBSTANCE: underlying surface is sounded along two reception channels mutually orthogonal by polarization, synthesized image is formed by way of pixel-by-pixel match of images of orthogonal reception channels with resulting amplitude outlines are highlighted on synthesized image. Fractional and lineament analyses of signal of image fragments inside highlighted outlines are conducted, seismic focus is identified by geometry of outline, fractional dimensions and pattern of field of lineaments. Weighted mean sum of azimuths of lineaments inside outlines of highlighted focus is computed. Dynamics of change of function of weighted mean sum of azimuths of lineaments is observed by series of images generated in sequence, period and inclination of tangents of observed function are calculated. Time of hit and magnitude are predicted by design formulas. EFFECT: enhanced authenticity and timelines of forecasting. 5 dwg
