FIELD: geophysics, national systems of seismic monitoring. SUBSTANCE: synthesized image of underlying surface is generated by pixel-by-pixel computation of relation of quantized levels of digital images. Outline of seismic center on synthesized image is isolated by methods of spatial differentiation and fractional analysis. Lineament analysis is conducted for section of image inside outline. Change of weighted mean of azimuths is observed by series of synthesized images of center subsequent in time and period of this function is computed. Magnitude and time of anticipated shock in observed center is forecast by computed period. EFFECT: enhanced sensitivity of method of earthquake forecasting. 5 dwg
