FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves item-by-item feeding of seed material to control zone; inducing luminescence thereof by exposing to wide-band ultraviolet radiation within spectral band of from 240 nanometers to 315 nanometers; selecting seed material in item-by-item manner by ratio of natural luminescence intensities measured within the range of from 315 nanometers to 650 nanometers, said selection being performed in at least two narrow spectral bands corresponding to qualitative features of seed material under selection process.
