GRAB FOR GRIPPING TIMBER ASSORTMENTS AND REPLANTING YOUNG GROWTH Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: timber industry and forestry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for hauling of timber assortments and carrying out operations of replanting young growth by mechanical planters. Proposed grab has carrying housing, grab jaws, each consisting of two teeth interconnected by blades and jaws joining hydraulic cylinder. Grab housing accommodates central axle on which turnable plates are mounted. Teeth of jaws are hinge secured on turnable plates. Blades are connected to teeth of jaws to form semicylinder. Rods are connected to hydraulic cylinder at both sides, being fitted in its eyes and arranged square to axis. Synchronizer is hinge- mounted on grab housing. Synchronizer is made in form of equal-arm mechanism, tie-rods connected with rods are hinge- secured to ends of arms of equal-arm mechanism. Device is furnished also with rods some ends of which are secured on turnable plates and other ends are to be connected to above-indicated rods when young growth is to be dug out. Turning of plates relative to central axis is provided by screws rigidly connecting turnable plates with teeth when digging out young growth. To prevent turning of jaws relative to central axis, clamps are used which fasten turnable plates on lower part of grab housing.
