FIELD: testing equipment used in gas, atomic, aircraft industries, mechanical engineering where mandatory requirements to tightness, lasting quality and reliability of articles such as pipe-lines and closed shells are specified. SUBSTANCE: in compliance with invention article is placed in closed volume, leak detector is linked to closed volume, article is filled with test gas and changes of readings of leak detector corresponding to variations of concentration of test gas in closed volume caused by lack of tightness of article are measured in the course of specified time. After connection of leak detector to closed volume calibrated dose of test gas corresponding to minimal value of increment of concentration registered by given leak detector is supplied to closed volume, changes of readings of leak detector corresponding to variations of concentration of test gas in closed volume as result of injection of calibrated dose test gas are measured, time interval when concentration of test gas in closed volume reaches stabilized change after injection of calibrated dose is registered. On termination of filling of article with test gas changes of readings of leak detector corresponding to variations of concentration of test gas in closed volume caused by lack of tightness of article are registered on lapse of time interval fixed in advance and value of lack of tightness of article is evaluated by relation of changes of readings of leak detector as result of injection of calibrated dose into closed volume and filling of articles with test gas. EFFECT: enhanced quality of test of articles for tightness and consequently raised reliability and lasting quality of them in operation.
