FIELD: testing equipment. SUBSTANCE: chamber housing article is pumped out, calibrated flow of test gas is fed into chamber, article is filled with test gas. Change of readings of calibrated flow and from article is measured by leak detector. Sensitivity of test and lack of tightness are evaluated by ratio of measured readings. In this case leak detector is communicated with chamber via long-length cooled pipe-line filled with sorbing material which is pumped out in addition. Readings of leak detector in chamber from calibrated flow of test gas are taken in different points along length of pipe-line till change corresponding to required sensitivity of test is obtained and selected point on long-length pipe-line is used to measure change of readings of leak detector from article. EFFECT: increased sensitivity of test, expanded assortment of tested articles.
