Additional discharge gap is closed with light-tight material. Method for controlling plasma panel includes introduction of initial display preparation mode by organizing preparatory discharge in additional gap and set of display discharges in one display discharge gap of one adjacent picture element within one picture field so as to ensure stability of picture element in one picture field.
