FIELD: metal cutting equipment, turning parts at high accuracy in lathes. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes spindle and two powered units designed for limiting spindle motion in plane passing through apex of cutter and acting upon spindle by means of pressurized oil supplied from hydraulic power station. In order to improve accuracy of turning, powered units are in the form of hydrostatic supports with cushions embracing outer surface of spindle and having pockets secured to elastic membranes with possibility of radial motion at beatings of outer surface of spindle and with possibility of forcing outer surface of spindle by action of pressure of oil supplied onto said elastic membranes and forming (relative to outer surface of spindle) gap filled with oil fed from cushion pockets.
