FIELD: diagnostics of lathes in plants of metal working industry. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of taking signals of pickups 15 of micrometer gauge 10 at working mandrel 3 mounted on front end of spindle for two cross sections of mandrel and taking signals of radial beatings of mandrel 3 from pickups 5 secured to housing of lathe; using results of measurements for receiving motion path of cutter apex and motion path of mandrel axis and constructing geometry image of worked surface on base of received paths; detecting normalized accuracy parameters of lathe according to geometry image, comparing them with values recommended in specifications and evaluating reliability parameters of lathe.
