FIELD: smoothbore or rifled barrels of artillery guns and hand fire arms, mainly guns of the caliber exceeding 100 mm and non-automatic weapon for special operations. SUBSTANCE: the firearm barrel has a tube with a breech and a charge chamber. The latter has a space for arrangement at least of part of the shell or bullet (hereinafter referred to as "shell") and a space for arrangement of the propellant charge in a case, cartridge bag or randomly (Hereinafter referred to as "for arrangement of the propellant charge". A partition (P) with thickness b is installed in the charge chamber between the spaces for arrangement of the propellant charge and shell. P is made with a perforation in the form of a great number of longitudinally oriented through holes with diameter d0, whose value is lower than the specified minimum size of the particles of the propellant charge at a loose structure of the latter, and relation b/d0≥4. b/d0 = 5. is the optimum value. The maximum possible coefficient of perforation is recommended proceeding from the strength of the crosspieces between its holes. P may rest on the surface of the bore. Particular modifications of the construction suppose the presence of a spacing tube between the breech block and a partition (P), or structural unification of the partition (P) and spacing tube into a single part-sleeve-container. Due to rational relation b/d0, static pressure in the space before the partition (P) is mainly transformed to dynamic pressure in the space past the shell. Gases formed in the system of the perforation holes in parallel jets effectively move the shell in the bore. EFFECT: enhanced power of the shot, partially unloaded bore walls, reduced fraction of residual energy of gases after the shell leaves the barrel, excluded urgent necessity in equipment of the firearm with flash eliminators and devices for reduction of the shot noise; the efficiency grows proportionally to the growth of the firearm caliber. 6 cl, 5 dwg
