FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention is related to fluid medium heaters, predominantly, electric heaters. In proposed fluid medium heater gap between radiating and screening surfaces is not more than value of viscous sublayer of fluid medium which is determined by formula δ = 144μ/Vρ, where μ is dynamic factor of viscosity of fluid medium, Pa/s; V is velocity of fluid medium. m/s; ρ is density of fluid medium, kg/cu m. Value of gap lies within limits 0.05-0.5 mm. Increased efficiency of heat exchange makes it feasible to decrease dimensions, simplify design, reduce temperature of heating element which raises reliability of fluid medium heater. EFFECT: raised operational reliability of fluid medium heater. 1 cl, 4 dwg
