HEAT FLOW TRANSDUCER Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2215272 C1

FIELD: measurement technology, instruments establishing value of density of heat flow on flat surface. SUBSTANCE: heat flow transducer has hollow polygonal prism made of high thermal conductivity material, freely rotating on axle and filled with substance showing stable melting temperature, for instance, melting ice. Thermoelectric modules are linked to every second face of hollow polygonal prism with their supporting junctions. Space between thermoelectric modules is filled with layer of heat insulation substance which thickness equals height of thermoelectric modules. Layer of heat insulation substance is also deposited on side surface of hollow polygonal prism. First electric leads of all thermoelectric modules are coupled to first electric leads of microscopic hermetically sealed reed relays. Second electric leads of thermoelectric modules are brought into electric contact with second contact ring. Bar with magnet is attached mechanically to axle. Heat flow transducer is moved along surface on which value of heat flow is measured with the help of special handle. Value of thermal emf of thermoelectric modules is recorded by measurement system.
