FIELD: technology of technical diagnostics used to evaluate technical condition of motor vehicles equipped with diesel engines by way of control over smoking of exhaust gases. SUBSTANCE: method measuring smoking of exhaust gases of diesel engines under mode of free acceleration includes stepping on pedal controlling fuel supply as far as it goes to achieve maximum rotational speed of crank shaft and engagement of governor, measurement of smoking under this mode and measurement of smoking under steady-state condition at maximal rotational speed. Specified time of stepping on pedal controlling fuel supply is set, actual time of stepping on pedal controlling fuel supply as far as it goes is measured simultaneously, at least two measurements are carried out and value of coefficient α, characterizing intensity of change of smoking index depending on time of stepping on pedal controlling fuel supply is found. Coefficient α is established by mathematical expression where Ln is natural logarithm; Dmeas1 is measured value of smoking index taken in first measurement, %; Dssmrs is measured value of smoking index taken under steady-state condition at maximal rotational speed of crankshaft; Dmeas1 is measured value of smoking index taken in second measurement, %; tϕmeas1 is measured time of stepping on pedal controlling fuel supply in first measurement, s; tϕmeas2 is measured value of time of stepping on pedal controlling fuel supply as far as it goes taken in second measurement, s. Smoking of exhaust gases is corrected in accord with mathematical expression
where D is corrected ( by time of stepping on pedal ) value of smoking index, %; Dmeasi is measured value of smoking index taken in i-th measurement, %; e is logarithmic base; tϕmeasi is measured value of time of stepping on pedal controlling fuel supply as far as it goes in i-th measurement, s; tp is specified value of time of stepping on pedal controlling fuel supply as far as it goes, s. Formula of invention gives variants of implementation of procedure. EFFECT: increased accuracy and decreased time to measure smoking of exhaust gases of diesel engines thanks to exclusion of influence of subjective factor on measurement results. 3 cl, 4 dwg
