FIELD: measuring technique.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises measuring velocity and acceleration of components spreading from seals throughout the periphery of the engine when engine accelerates from the idle minimum stable speed of rotation, determining the ratio of velocity and acceleration and time constants of component concentration and smoking individually, and using this ratio measured at the beginning of acceleration and in a given time interval for determining concentration. The device comprises pickups of concentration of toxic components and smoking, functional and analogue-digital converters, indicator, digital multiplexer, two digital differentiators, units for computing the ratios, concentrations, and mean time period for data acquisition, adder-storage of concentration, and processing command generator.
