FIELD: transformer manufacture; preventing explosion and fire on transformers cooled with explosive liquids. SUBSTANCE: power transformer has tank filled with explosive cooling liquid and stand-by tank holding explosive cooling liquid that communicates with main tank via pipeline; it also has means for forcing inert gas to bottom part of main tank. Pressure transducer installed in main tank has safety valve provided with electric contact to transfer information about changes in pressure, if any, to control unit. Facility for discharging explosive cooling liquid from main tank has pipeline with valve for instant pressure release within main tank by partial drain of explosive cooling liquid. Such design provides for protecting transformer against excess pressure caused by explosion in case of internal insulation breakdown and against fire caused by such insulation breakdown.
