FIELD: medicine, neurosurgery. SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with treating patients with different forms of hydrocephalus. One should carry out implantation of shunting system consisting of ventricular catheter, valve and abdominal catheter. Nomograms should be predrawn depending upon liquid expenses in ml/d against pressure in catheters of different diameter. In patient one should detect the required expenses of liquor to be removed, and diameter of abdominal catheter should be determined by nomogram on the basis of required liquor expenses provided by it at pressure Pm estimated by the formula: where P1 - excessive pressure determined by nomogram providing the removal of required liquor expenses in patient's lying position; P2 - excessive pressure of liquor in patient's vertical position, the value of which should be determined as P1+300 mm water column. The present method enables to increase efficiency of therapy due to maintaining intracranial pressure within the norm despite patient's body position. EFFECT: higher efficiency of therapy. 1 dwg
