FIELD: manufacture and repairing of machine parts, namely methods for automatic electric-arc surfacing of worn shafts, possibly in machine engineering for applying special alloys onto journals of worn shafts. SUBSTANCE: method provides possibility for surfacing layers with thickness 0.2 - 0.5 mm without loss caused by spilling of additive metal. Method comprises steps of igniting electric arc between part rotating at linear velocity more than 500 m/s and nonconsumable electrode arranged by acute angle relative to vector of linear velocity of part; feeding additive wire into zone of electric arc ignition at constant axial effort at rotating it around its own axis; feeding additive wire by obtuse angle 140 -160 degrees relative to vector of part linear velocity in order to provide constant forcing of wire to surface of part in zone of active spot of electric arc. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency along whole area of welded surface. 2 cl, 1 tbl, 1 ex
