FIELD: processes and devices for electrolyte cleaning of metallic surface, particularly of welding wire, possibly in metallurgy, building and different branches of machine engineering. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cathode treatment in electrolyte being aqueous solution of sodium carbonate and(or) chloride in closed reservoir connected with positive bar of power source; then performing treatment in closed reservoir whose working length exceeds at least by two times working length of first reservoir and which is separated from first reservoir by means of dielectric partition with window whose area exceeds more than by 1.5 times total area of inlet window of first reservoir and outlet window of second reservoir; passing through said windows without contact welding wire connected by means of straightening rollers with zero bar of power source.
