STRIP STEEL COIL BANDING DEVICE Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: rolling of metals; packing devices. SUBSTANCE: proposed device for banding strip steel coils by tie band contains base 1, mechanical repeater with tie band and mechanism 4 for tensioning and connecting ends of tie band. Device is furnished additionally with horizontal platform 5 carrying support rollers 6 and articulated lever 7 mounted on base through centering member 8 and vertical travel-motion mechanism of platform 5 and slider 11 mounted on support rollers 6. Mechanical repeater is secured n platform on platform 5 for enclosing centering member 8, and tie band and tensioning and connecting mechanism 4 is installed on slider 11 from side pointed to centering member. Lever 7 is provided with sheave-counterweight 12 through which flexible member 13 is reeved, one end of which is connected to mechanism 4 and other end is secured on platform 5. Short-time exposure of mechanism 4 to high temperatures from packed coils of strip steel (t= 600-800^oC) and possibility of moving other mechanism of banding device into initial position improve its operating reliability.
