Conditions mentioned below are realized: n1>n3>nc>n2, a1/a2 is equal to 0.4 as minimum and do not exceed 0.7, a3/a2 does not exceed 1.6. Optical transmission system includes low-dispersion optical fiber and device to compensate for dispersion which has negative gradient of chromatic dispersion.
