FIELD: fiber-optical communication lines. SUBSTANCE: optical fiber has central core with refractive index n1 and diameter a1, first and second peripheral cores with corresponding indices and diameters n2 and a2, n3 and a3 and sheath with refractive index nc. Conditions mentioned below are realized: n1>n3>nc>n2, a1/a2 is equal to 0.4 as minimum and do not exceed 0.7, a3/a2 does not exceed 1.6. Optical transmission system includes low-dispersion optical fiber and device to compensate for dispersion which has negative gradient of chromatic dispersion.
