METHOD FOR SURGICAL REMOVAL OF EPICANTHUS Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology. SUBSTANCE: in area of internal ocular angle one should perform Y-shaped incision of skin in horizontal direction at the length of every incision's arm being 4-5 mm. Moreover, medial arm is directed from medial adhesion to be horizontally towards the nose. Symmetrical coming apart arms are applied along the edges of internal angle being within 2-3 mm against the edges. Their ends are directed to eyelids' edges up to the level of their anterior ribs not reaching lacrimal points. Cutaneous fragments should be separated. Middle fragment is replaced medially and fixed. Lateral fragments are adapted correspondingly to adjacent edges of incision. The method enables to increase cosmetic effect due to decreasing the number of postoperative scars.
