FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, possibly production of elemental aluminum by means of plasma arc discharge. SUBSTANCE: method for continuous production of elemental aluminum from initial raw materials containing, mainly alumina and reduction gas in the form of gaseous light-weight hydrocarbon, methane, carbon monoxide or hydrogen comprises steps of continuously supplying flow of raw materials containing alumina and reduction gas directly into reaction zone having high temperature; providing reaction of alumina and gas at temperature approximately equal to 1500 C or more in reaction zone for receiving continuous flow of products having reaction products including elemental aluminum; continuous sharp cooling of products of said flow and separating elemental aluminum from other reaction products. Raw materials are heated by means of plasma arc discharge. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of method realized under pressure slightly excess in comparison with environment pressure at using raw materials with standard industrial properties. 23 cl, 1 dwg
