FIELD: radiolocation measurements, radars discriminating objects. SUBSTANCE: proposed way to measure effective dispersion area of object includes emission of sounding signal, measurement of power of received signal reflected from object, measurement of range to object and computation of effective dispersion area. In compliance with invention at least two additional measurements of power of received reflected signal are executed in vicinity of direction to object and power of signal that corresponds to position of maximum in radiation pattern of antenna is computed. EFFECT: increased accuracy of measurement of effective dispersion area of object thanks to diminished effect of form of radiation pattern of antenna on measurement results. 3 cl, 3 dwg
