FIELD: physics; radio.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to radar and can be used in radar stations for protection from clutter when scanning an area. Technical outcome is achieved due to that, threshold range Rth, is pre-calculated in the scanning area of the radar station, closer to the probability of generating two-dimensional angular packets of detected reflections with size equal to one, from reflections from targets with known least value of effective reflective area from all possible values in the radar scanning area of a radar station, not exceeding a permissible sufficiently small value, determined by the tolerance probability of missing a target. After that at ranges closer to the threshold range Rth, two-dimensional angular packets, sizes of which are greater than one, are received as two-dimensional angular packets, formed from reflections from targets, and two-dimensional angular packets, equal to one, are received as two-dimensional angular packets, formed from clutter.
EFFECT: reduced clutter in the scanning area of a radar station with significantly low tolerance probability of missing reflections from targets.
