FIELD: electronic engineering; manufacture of planar screens including television screens and vacuum luminescent displays. SUBSTANCE: proposed luminescent-cathode matrix screen incorporating great number of light-emitting components capable of displaying various graphical pictures has vacuum envelope assembled of two plates; rows of anode electrodes deposited on one of plates and made in the form of phosphor-covered parallel strips of at least one color which are connected by means of current- carrying tracks to external leads through contact pads; set of control electrodes in the form of parallel rods orthogonal to anode electrodes which form light-emitting segments; set of directly heated cathodes; insulating frame that hermetically joins plates together; novelty is introduction of cathode grid in the form of parallel rods orthogonal to anode electrodes inserted between set of directly heated cathodes and set of control electrodes; distance between cathode grid rods is same as that between rods of set of control electrodes, rods of cathode grid being disposed opposite to those of set of control electrodes. EFFECT: enhanced quality of screen, glow stability of light-emitting segments in displaying various graphical patterns, and brightness. 1 cl, 2 dwg, 1 tbl
