WOUND DILATOR FOR OPERATION IN ORBITAL CAVITY Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2218108 C1

FIELD: medicine, particularly, maxillofacial surgery, applicable in aphthalmology, general surgery and traumatology. SUBSTANCE: wound dilator is made in form of wire structure from material with shape memory, for instance, on the base of titanium nickelide TN- 20. Wound dilator has taking-away members and mechanism for their moving apart. Wound dilator is oval in shape in horizontal plane. Mechanism of moving apart of taking-away members is made in form of springs located from two sides and having shape of angular members with angle of 38 deg. Spring ends are connected with taking-away members formed in middle of side part of oval part in form of 5-8 return turns. Taking-away members moving apart at angle of 60 deg. Upward from oval plane. One of taking-away members has turns longer than that of other member by a factor of 1.5-2 and bent away at angle of 90 deg to outside at level of upper edge of turns of other taking-away member. This taking-away member, when installed in orbital cavity, faces lower wall of orbital cavity and forms catching member. EFFECT: developed small in size, low-injury wound dilator for operation in orbital cavity rendering uniform pressure on walls of wound channel and providing optimal operative access, simplified examination and operation in orbital cavity with negligible probability of structure displacement in course of operation. 3 dwg
