METHOD FOR TREATING POSTMASTECTOMIC SYNDROME Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, mammosurgery. SUBSTANCE: before operation one should carry out diagnostics for the state of cervical and suprathoracic vertebral department, articulations and muscles of brachial girdle, detect functional disorders of vertebromotor segments (VMS), articulations, availability of the 1st rib blockade, spasmodic and atonic muscles (SM and AM) to be removed with the help of manual therapy, then one should carry out exercises of curative physical training directed to relaxation of SM and increased tonicity of AM; after operation one should conduct repeated diagnostics of disorders detected before operation and, also, detect availability of superior thoracic aperture syndrome and its character; therapy is conducted by stages: at the first stage at the background of medicinal therapy along technique of manual therapy one should remove repeatedly detected disorders, and VMS lesions associated with corresponding syndrome; at the second stage one should carry out target postisometric relaxation of spasmodic muscles topically corresponding to regionary disorders in blood and lymph circulation of atonic muscles; at the third stage physiotherapy and massage are conducted; at the fourth stage one should fulfill exercises of target curative gymnastics directed to relaxing spasmodic or increased tonicity of atonic muscles and restoring the function of superior limb. The method enables to prevent or remove both earlier and later manifestations of postmastectomic syndrome that enables to shorten the terms for restoring the functions of superior limb and brachial girdle.
