METHOD FOR RECOVERING LOCOMOTOR FUNCTION OF UPPER EXTREMITY ON SIDE OF MASTECTOMY PERFORMED FOR BREAST CANCER Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61H1/00

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, medical rehabilitation, psychotherapy, oncology, mammalogy and can be used in sanatoria and medical institutions and medical rehabilitation institutions. Art therapy is used as art therapy method. Patient is operated by a hand with an altered locomotor function after a mastectomy surgery for breast cancer, daily, in course of 12 group or individual sessions, duration of 2 hours. 1 lesson – drawing gouache resource topic, individually selected by patient – theme, which gives her strength in fighting disease, using theme nature as self-expression of internal state. 2 lesson is drawing of gouache the theme of expression of feelings and emotions in picturesque images of plant and animal life taking into account emotional perception by patient. 3 session is drawing with gouache of image of self using abstraction technique. 4 session is multilayer watercolor drawing with white or light spots in symbolism technique with image of surrounding world using simple geometric figures. 5 lesson is the use of watercolor equipment for wet and dry works with the image of actions, movement and natural phenomena. 6 lesson – use of water-colors divorce techniques, flowing, washing during flowers and plant images, use of salt, crumpled paper for imaging. 7 lesson is a black-and-white pencil drawing with construction of objects and volume, using hatching and tonal graduations, shadows. 8 lesson is a penciled black-and-white picture of the volume, shadows and tone of the surrounding space taking into account the base of the drawing composition. 9 lesson is the image of the surrounding space using colored pencils with the use of hatching, rubbing and mixing taking into account the bases of the composition of objects in space. 10 session is an image of the surrounding space and a resource topic selected by the patient herself, the oil pastel using the rubbing technique and scraping. 11 lesson – drawing a picture on a free theme in free technique using mixing of available art materials, a story about your picture, its history. 12 lesson is formation of portfolio from own pictures, psychological analysis of dynamics of expression of their state by means of them.

EFFECT: method provides reducing pain and edema syndrome (lymphedema), improving psychoemotional status, quality of life, fast – in 12 sessions – restoring the motor function of the affected extremity in the patients after the radical surgery for breast cancer.
