FIELD: metallurgy, namely processes and equipment for continuous casting of steel. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of supplying melt metal from intermediate ladle into mold through casting nozzle; during first 10-15% of casting period controlling metal flowrate by means of washed away metering insert placed near base of casting nozzle; using metering insert with diameter of its critical section consisting 0.2 -0.5 of diameter of duct of casting nozzle and with height consisting 0.5 - 0.8 of diameter of casting nozzle. Metering insert may be made of quartz or alumosilicate refractory material. EFFECT: enhanced stability of casting due to normalized feed of melt metal to mold. 3 cl, 1 dwg, 1 ex
