WATERCRAFT COMPLEX FOR SEA TRANSPORTATION OF IRRADIATED NUCLEAR FUEL OF ATOMIC POWER PLANTS OF SUBMARINES, SHIPS AND VESSELS Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: shipbuilding; transport facilities for transportation of irradiated nuclear fuel of atomic plants of submarines, ships and vessels. SUBSTANCE: proposed complex is just sectional multi-functional ship consisting at least two sections-ships provided with transportation packaging sets for irradiated nuclear fuel and radiation physical protection and transport ship-section. Transport ship-section is made in form of dock-type ship with ballast system and fore superstructure. Its hold-dock is equipped on side of stern with watertight gate. Located on cargo deck of hold-dock is floating system assembled from said functional ships-sections which are just standard lighters; their radiation and physical protection is made in form of six safe-guard capsules mounted on each lighter; launch silos of utilized atomic submarines are used for this purpose. Transport packaging sets are located inside these launch silos. Hold-dock is equipped with automatic units for locking floating system mainly by means of fenders and shoes. EFFECT: reduced usage of materials; improved seaworthiness; enhanced ecological safety. 3 dwg
