FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed decelerator is designed for mounting in exhaust system of internal combustion engine. Decelerator contains at least one valve with housing forming channel and movable gate installed transverse the channel and connected with control shaft, and said gate controls containing balancing device equalizing backpressure created when said movable gate acts on gases. Balancing device should operate when gate is closed, starting from definite threshold value of backpressure, open discharge channel when backpressure reaches said threshold value and hold channel open out of the limits of threshold value of pressure irrespective of engine operating conditions to provide control of discharge of exhaust gases. Balancing device contains calibrated valve installed in said channel and compression spring arranged behind said calibrated valve and adjusted to said pressure threshold value. Balancing device is built into valve housing and it contains guide bushing through which shaft passes. Said bushing contains axial space designed for mounting said calibrated valve its spring coaxially to said shaft. Discharge channel is arranged mainly square to shaft and it opens into channel lower than said gate to create, together with balancing device, bypass passage to let out part of exhaust gas flow. EFFECT: provision of constant and maximum speed deceleration power irrespective of engine operating conditions. 12 cl, 6 dwg
