FIELD: electrical engineering, construction of underwater ships. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to storage batteries meant for use on underwater craft. In correspondence with invention submersible storage battery includes container with cover and gas-release unit filled with dielectric where cells filled with electrolyte with ventilation valves, filters and axial branch pipes are installed and pressure equalization device. Internal space of container is divided by perforated diaphragm into two parts: first part where gases and spent fraction of cells are accumulated, called gas-accumulation part and second part, working, which is free of gases and above-mentioned fraction where cells are installed. Diaphragm is pressed to bodies of ventilation valves of cells in points of perforation and to walls of container. Gas-accumulation part communicates with spaces of cells through ventilation valves. Pressure equalization device comes in the form of elastic chamber communicating with environment placed in gas-accumulation part. This approach excludes negative effect of waste products of cells on their terminals prolonging service life of device, improves operational characteristics of storage battery and diminish its mass and size parameters due to placement of pressure equalization device coming in the form of elastic chamber inside container. EFFECT: diminished mass and size characteristics of storage battery, increased efficiency, reliability and convenience of its operation, prolonged service life of submersible storage battery. 5 cl, 6 dwg
