FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out tunnel access, capsulorhexis and nucleus hydrosection. Mechanical nucleus fragmentation is started in the posterior chamber with nucleus rotation at 45 deg about an axis passing through 6-12 o'clock positions. Nucleus fragment exposed in capsulorhexis is cut using an instrument. The instrument operates in plane being in perpendicular relation to nucleus equator plane. Left and right spatulas are used as the instrument sharpened on single lateral side. The spatulas are introduced via paracenteses at 1.30 and 10.30 o'clock positions. They pierce the nucleus from different sides with respect to equator at a distance of 1/2-1/3 of exposed nucleus segment. Spatulas ends are brought close in the shortest way until they touch each other. Further, one spatula plays underlayer role and the other one the cutting instrument role. The whole segment is cut off in one or several stages. Then, the nucleus is turned exposing another segment and the operation is repeated. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment; reduced risk of operative and post- operative complications. 6 dwg
