FIELD: waste water treatment. SUBSTANCE: metal ions are recovered from solutions by means of cationite sorption, said cationite being product of interaction of rubber crumb with hydrogen sulfide at weight ratio 1:0.1 and hydrogen sulfide pressure 100 kPa. Sorption is carried out at pH 7-10.5. Rubber crumb is, in particular, foam rubber or crushed tread rubber with particle size 0.2-1.6 mm.
