FIELD: power engineering; variable reactance units and static excess reactive-power correctors for power circuits. SUBSTANCE: reactor that incorporates provision for its phase-by-phase control and for limiting higher harmonics has closed gapless magnetic circuit, coaxially arranged power winding, control winding, and compensating winding disposed in-between. End windings are coated on top and at bottom with sector magnetic shunts responding to magnetic leakage flux and conveying this flux to magnetic-circuit yokes whose total sectional area ∑Fy is larger than sectional area of legs Fleg , this total sectional area being chosen from condition where a1, a2, α12 is thickness of power winding, control winding, and gap in-between, respectively.
