METHOD AND DEVICE FOR APPLYING DOSED VACUUM THERAPY TO PATIENTS SUFFERING FROM CHRONIC CATARRHAL AND EXUDATIVE MIDDLE OTITIS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2221527 C2

FIELD: medicine; medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining external acoustic meatus volume and intratympanic pressure. Negative pressure condition is created to exceed one produced when carrying out tympanometry by 50 dPa for opening auditory tube. Type B tympanogram being obtained, 200-300 dPa pressure excess is to be reached that is below pain threshold. Treatment session is 2 min long and then the pressure is discharged to atmospheric level. The procedures are repeated 2-4 times a day with the whole treatment course being 5-10 sessions long. Control is carried out on the basis of tympanometry data. The device has T-connector for joining ear olives to manometer for recording pressure, personal ear insert members sealed by stethoscope spring, connecting member with Jeannet syringe for creating negative pressure in the acoustic meatus. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment; normalized intertympanic pressure; achieved labyrinth decompression. 2 cl, 1 dwg
