Osmium(VIII)-containing solution with 4 M H2SO4 or 6 M HCl to pH 4 is completed with silica gel sorbent chemically modified with mercapto groups, vigorously stirred for 5 min, and decanted. Sorbent is washed with distilled water and transferred into fluoroplastic cuvette to measure coefficient of diffuse reflection at 440 nm. EFFECT: lowered detection threshold. 4 ex
