FIELD: shipbuilding; designing equipment for experimental model basins. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of compression of simulated ice field consists in forming edge in ice field and applying compressive force to ice field by loading the plate located along edge of ice. Edge of ice is formed motion of immersed portion of plate which is placed along side of basin. Compression of ice is performed during repeated pass of plate moving together with towing carriage. Plate is preliminarily loaded through block-and-rope system by means of calibrated weights. Device proposed for realization of this method includes loading system, plate compressing the ice and pressure gauge. Loading system and plate are mounted on towing carriage moving along ice field. Plate is suspended from holder by mans of axle rigidly fastened with plate movable relative to holder. Loading system includes two rollers secured on towing carriage through which flexible coupling is thrown. One end of flexible coupling is connected with said axle and its other end is used for suspending the calibrated weights. EFFECT: enhanced reliability; enhanced accuracy of determination of magnitude compressive force; reduction of time required for separation of simulated ice field from side of experimental model basin. 3 cl, 1 dwg
