FIELD: ship building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ship building, particularly to ship experimental fluid mechanics. Disclosed is a testing tank for testing models of ships and offshore engineering structures, primarily in ice, including a cooling chamber with a cooling system and a channel filled with salt water, on whose surface is formed by ice field with ridged ice, as well as a compression plant of underwater part of hummocks containing arranged on both sides of channel opposite submerged vertical thrust plate equipped with elastic membrane, installed on upper end plate, and hydraulic drive with movable rods connected with support plates for their horizontal movement. Height of thrust plates exceeds thickness of consolidated layer fields by at least 10 %, and their width is at least 50 % of width of underwater part hummock. Hydraulic drive is connected with a control panel, arranged on-board said testing basin.
EFFECT: technical result is broader functional capabilities of testing basin.
