FIELD: nuclear power engineering; nuclear industry. SUBSTANCE: first alternative involves loading irradiated nuclear fuel in storage tanks on board floating facility for refueling nuclear reactors. Then compartment containing storage tanks is cut from floating facility and placed in separate compartment of nuclear submarine for subsequent disposal. Other alternative of this method involves cutting nuclear power plant with irradiated nuclear fuel and mounting it in separate compartment of nuclear submarine for subsequent disposal. Proposed method provides for reducing radiation dose rate, increasing amount of irradiated nuclear fuel that can be disposed, reducing number of refueling operations, reducing time of personnel exposure to ionizing rays. EFFECT: improved environmental friendliness; facilitated handling of irradiated nuclear fuel. 6 cl
