KINESCOPE BAND MANUFACTURE METHOD Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: rolled products. SUBSTANCE: invention is designed to obtain precision cold-rolled band for improved-quality shadow masks of kinescopes. Method involves decarbonizing annealing of cold-rolled rolling from low-carbon steel, first cold rolling, recrystallization annealing, second cold rolling, and flattening of band by several passages in rolls with standardized roughness of surface. Decarbonizing annealing is carried out until carbon concentration 0.0004- 0.0020% in band is obtained. Squeezing in the second cold rolling is maintained equal to 30-50%. Flattening is accomplished in rolls with roughness parameters: 1.5-4.5 mcm R_a and 80-150 mcm S_m at linear rolling pressure value 0.06-0.26 t/mm. Low-carbon steel used for cold-rolled rolling may contain, wt %: C 0.01-0.05, Mn 0.20-0.35, Al 0.02-0.06, Si ≤ 0.02, Cr ≤ 0.02, Cu ≤ 0.02, N ≤ 0.008, S ≤ 0.015, and P ≤ 0.015 (the rest iron). The first and second rolling can be performed in rolls with roughness of surface 0.15-0.40 mcm R_a and recrystallization annealing can be performed by heating band to 610-650 C and keeping the band at this temperature for 8-11 h. After decarbonizing annealing, additional thickness calibration of rolling after rolling operation with 10-20% squeezing in quarto stand is possible.
