FIELD: process for treating manganese-containing raw material to produce magnesium sulfate solution comprising sulfuric acid leaching of manganese-containing raw material in the presence of sulfur dioxide purifying manganese sulfate from impurities and separating the precipitated deposited. SUBSTANCE: sulfuric acid leaching of manganese-containing raw material with different degree of oxidation is carried out by feeding sulfur dioxide having natural temperature to the process after roasting of iron pyrite resulting from sulfuric acid production with SO2 to Mn+4 ratio of 1.9-2.5:1 in the initial raw material. Manganese sulfate solutions are purified by blowing off residual content of SO2 from suspension (pulp) and impurities are then precipitated with alkali-containing components at pH of 4.5-7.0. Sulfuric acid is used in amount of not greater than stoichiometric amount with respect to soluble components of manganese-containing raw material. Leaching temperature of 75 ± 5 C is created by feeding sulfur dioxide to suspension having temperature of 80-100 C and the suspension is mixed with sulfur dioxide in ejection mixer. Process of precipitation of impurities is carried out at residual temperature of the suspension of 40-70 C. EFFECT: more efficient treatment process. 5 cl, 2 tbl
